Do you have any? Answer: A so-called "Teacup" Maltese dog is not from a separate breed, but it is a special phenomenon that Maltese breeders will more often call a "Tiny." A Tiny is NOT a litter runt, but rather a somewhat rare and special fluke of nature. Normally, a Maltese dog will be between 4 and 7 pounds in weight when full grown; but a Tiny, or Teacup, Maltese is about 3.5 pounds or less in weight when full grown. The smallest that we have heard of is 2 pounds and we consider that to be unusually small, even for a Tiny. Tinies are not extremely rare, but occur in about only one out of every 50 pups. Because there are so few, and the fact that they tend to be sought after by many people, they are usually more expensive and harder to come by. We do occasionally have Tinies available. However, they may not be well suited to some home environments as they can be more frail and often are finicky eaters. Consistent eating habits and nutrition are especially important for a Tiny, because any weight loss or dehydration can be dangerous for them. Also, their size and frailty can make frolicking with larger animals or children hazardous for the Tiny. ========= 2.
