Well, we owe you a sincere apology for the huge delay that elapsed before we finally started publishing our newsletter. Here is our FIRST ISSUE--who knows, maybe it will be a collector's item someday. (Who said, "...NOT?!") If you haven't been to our website lately, it will be well worth your while to go take another look. We've recently rebuilt the entire site, incorporating some of your suggestions, with the intent of improving its appeal, ease of use and overall functionality. We think you'll especially enjoy the new puppy photo gallery and the Maltese Chat Room where you can chat with other Maltese lovers on the website. We also intend to occasionally announce scheduled times when you can meet in the Maltese Chat Room with Donna Kelly, owner/breeder of The Kelly's Maltese. Check it out: http://www.kellyco.com/ ========= 3.Your dog's teeth. Ever wonder why there are so many products on the market for your dog to chew on? It's not just to keep them from gnawing on the furniture. The health of your dog's teeth can directly affect their overall health. Dog owner's often tend to neglect their dog's dental health, mostly because they don't think any action is required on their part. However, a dog cannot brush and floss their teeth everyday the way we do; and, no matter how many biscuits, bones and chews we give our dogs, it can never quite take the place of brushing and cleaning. We encourage Maltese owners to brush their dog's teeth, at least once every other day if not every day. (A tricky procedure, but we're not joking here folks.) We have dog toothpastes available, both fluoridated and not, that are specially formulated to be tasty and non-toxic for the dog and at the same time help prevent tartar buildup, tooth decay and gum disease. NEVER use a human toothpaste on your dog as the dog will undoubtedly swallow some in the process. We also have dental tooth scraping instruments available to scrape away tougher tarter buildups, but extra care must be taken to avoid inadvertently cutting the dogs gums or tongue, so you may want to leave this procedure for a Vet. Even with regular brushing, occasional scraping and all the dog chew goodies, eventually you will probably have to take your dog to the Vet to have their teeth cleaned professionally. Without proper care, your dog could eventually lose their teeth and may develop other health problems along the way as a result of tooth decay, gum disease and tooth loss. So brush your doggie's teeth, OK? (By the way, it's good for their breath too.) ========= 4.
